A ramp or threshold ramp is needed for safe and accessible movement in an aging-in-place home. Anyone with mobility limitations, such as using wheelchairs, walkers, canes, scooters, or for people/pets experiencing difficulty with stairs, ramps allow access to all the entries and pathways of the home. Ramps provide anyone with mobility impairment the ability to safely navigate steps, thresholds, and other uneven surfaces, promoting greater independence and reducing the need for assistance to just be happy in your home.
At Helping Hands Living Solutions, we realize that the correct ramp for your home is the one that is safe and fits in the space you have available. When you request a proposal for a ramp from us, we want to start by coming to your home for a free site visit. You can show us the specific difficulty you're having right now. Then we can measure the space together, discuss exactly where the ramp needs to go, and determine what kind of ramp will best solve the problem for you. Then we will discuss your options, ensure you are aware of the ADA guidelines for ramps as well as any local building codes and finally work with you to design your solution. One item that we want to stress when we are at your home is that we do not want your new ramp to be the only means of exit from the home. A second egress point is needed in the event of an emergency and access to your primary exit is blocked.

EZ-Access has multiple products and solutions, but specific to Ramps & Thresholds, we normally provide: EZ-Access Gateway Ramps with options for handrails, EZ-Access Pathway Ramps which are custom designed, the Angled Entry Threshold Ramp, the Modular Threshold Entry Ramp, the Rubber Angled Entry Threshold Mat, and the Angled Threshold Entry Plate.
EZ-Access Gateway Ramp
Note that Helping Hands Living Solutions strongly recommends that if a ramp is to have 'foot traffic', that a model with handrails be utilized. We have options for no handrail, vertical picket handrails, or our recommended deployment of 2-line handrails.
For a Ramp that is longer than 10 feet in length, requires a landing, or utilizes a 90 degree or switchback turn; we will custom design a solution utilizing our dealer access to the EZ-Access Pathway Series of ramps.

Threshold Ramps
Threshold ramps are designed to helpmobility devices, such as wheelchairs, scooters, and rollators, navigate small height differences, like doorways or a step. This style ramp can be used for patio door access to the deck, short step downs from room to room, or just to smooth out a small threshold bump. Having no-step accessibility will help you safely age-in-place and give you access to more of your home.
Where are they used?
- Doorways: At doorways to bridge the gap or smooth a 1/2 inch or higher "bump"
- Steps: To navigate small steps or uneven surfaces, usually no higher than 5 inches
Who can benefit?
- Wheelchair users: Threshold ramps allow for easy access to doorways and other areas that would otherwise be inaccessible
- Scooter users: Similar to wheelchairs, scooters can also benefit from the accessibility provided by threshold ramps
- Anyone with mobility limitations: Whether temporary or permanent, threshold ramps are helpful for navigating uneven surfaces reducing the risk of trips or falls
- People using walkers or other mobility aids: These ramps can also assist individuals using rollators to traverse small height changes
EZ-Access Adjustable Angled Entry Ramp
The EZ-Access TRANSITIONS® Angled Entry Ramp is a portable, stand-alone threshold ramp featuring independently adjustable legs with swivel feet, allowing for vertical adjustment ranging from 1.375" to 5.875" in height. This self-supporting aluminum threshold ramp is ideal for doorways that swing in and out, uneven surfaces, or single-step rises.

EZ-Access Modular Height Entry Ramp
The TRANSITIONS® Modular Entry Ramp is perfect for doorways to create a smooth, sturdy, and seam-free surface for wheelchair, scooter, walker, and cane users. It is made with high-strength aluminum that will never rust or corrode and has an extruded slip-resistant surface for superior traction. Ideal for doorways, sliding glass doors, and raised landings. It is lightweight and easily transported from one place to the next for added convenience. Sizes are available to accommodate thresholds up to 6.25" high.

EZ-Access Angled Entry Mat
The EZ-Access TRANSITIONS® Angled Entry Mat provides a smooth transition through doorways with raised thresholds and can help eliminate trip hazards caused by raised landings and floor offsets. Made from recycled rubber, this durably designed threshold mat is ideal for high-traffic areas and will not buckle under heavy loads. It is naturally slip-resistant and is ideal for indoor or outdoor use, offering superior traction wherever it's placed. Black or Grey, available in 1.5 inch to 2.5 inch heights in quarter-inch increments, and can be trimmed or notched for the perfect fit.

This single-piece, formed aluminum plate helps to eliminate trip hazards and accommodates most mobility devices. The Angled Entry Plate is available in 8", 10", and 12" lengths
